A court here on Thursday sent Viqarunnisa Noon School and College class IX class teacher Hasna Hena to jail in a case filed over the suicide of Aritree Adhikari.
Metropolitan Magistrate Md Abu Sayeed passed the order denying her bail petition filed after inspector Kamrul HasanTalukdar of Detective Branch of police produced her before the court.
Earlier in the day, Hasna Hena’s lawyer Jahangir Alam submitted a petition seeking her bail.
Detectives on Wednesday night arrested Viqarunnisa Noon School and College class-9 class teacher Hasna Hena from Dhaka’s Uttara area.
A team of Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested the teacher in a case filed on charge of provoking the suicide of class-9 student Aritree Adhikari.
The case cited that the class teacher humiliated the parents in front of the student over accusations of cheating in an exam and the teenager committed suicide after the incident.
Acting Principal Nazneen Ferdous, morning shift in-charge of Bailey Road branch Zeenat Akhter and Aritree’s class teacher Hasna Hena have been accused in the case and all three were then suspended following an education ministry order.
Police sources said they are on looking for the other two accused to be arrested.
The government on Wednesday scrapped Monthly Pay Order (MPO) benefits of the three accused teachers as well.
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid instructed the school’s governing body to fire the teachers.
Aritree Adhikari, a Class-IX student, reportedly committed suicide at their Shantinagar residence in Dhaka on Monday after allegedly being rebuked by teachers for using mobile phone during examination.
Victim’s father Dilip Adhikari filed a case against the three teachers of the school.
