At least five people were killed and more than 50 injured in a clash between two groups of villagers of Charigram, Mithamoin upazila, Kishoreganj Thursday afternoon.
The deceased have been identified as Rajib (32), Maqbul Miah (33) and three siblings – Fardish (55), Makhon (48) and Masum (45).
The clash erupted over establishing supremacy over two groups of the village where a long standing feud existed between Awami League leader Suleman Bhuiyan and BNP leader Pallab Bhuiyan , informed Md. Mujibur Rahman, chairman of Dhaki union parishad.
“The two had a number of cases lodged against each other over agriculture and fish farming.”
On Thursday, tension broke out when some relatives of Suleman Bhuiyan attacked Sujon Miah’s son Rajib when he was on his way back from the Mithamoin Bazar. Injured with a spear, Rajib died on the spot.
The clash between two groups erupted when the news of Raj spread.
