A truck was hit by two trains with a gap of minutes in between at Moghbazar wireless gate level crossing in Dhaka early Saturday.
The accident halted rail communication through the route for nearly two hours.
However, no one was hurt in the accident. The truck reportedly broke down right on the rail tracks before the accident took place and the driver of the vehicle had abandoned it.
At first, Kamalapur-bound Upaban Express from Sylhet hit the truck around 5:00am and it was left on one of the railway tracks in the area blocking the way, said Yasin Faruk, officer-in-charge (OC) of Dhaka Railway Police Station.
“The train pushed the truck over to another rail line next to the first one,” Yasin said.
Then a few minutes later another train, Mymensingh-bound Balaka Express came from the direction of Kamalapur and hit the truck, Yasin added.
The wreckage of the truck was not removed from the tracks for nearly two hours causing the the rail communication to remain halted.
Rail communication resumed around 7:00am after authorities removed the damaged truck from the rail tracks.
