Two suspected criminals were killed in separate reported gunfights in Chittagong and Magura districts on Friday night.
Law enforcers claimed that a wanted terrorist was killed in a ‘gunfight’ with them at Dudhkumra in Anwara upazila of Chittagong in the early hours on Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as Mohammad Nasir alias Mamun, 35, son of Haju Kalamiah of Boalia and accused in 18 cases including murder and gang-rape.
Police arrested Mamun on Friday afternoon, said Dulal Mahmud, officer-in-charge of Anwara Police Station.
Later, a team of police conducted a drive in the area along with Mamun to recover arms.
When the team reached the area around 1am, the associates of Mamun opened fire on the law enforcers, prompting them to fire back, triggering the gunfight.
After the gunfight, police found the bullet hit body of Mamun who died on the spot.
One LG and several rounds of bullet were recovered from the spot.
Two policemen were also injured.
In Magura, a suspected robber, identified as Bashar Biswas Shohagh, 41, was killed in a reported gunfight with his rivals.
Police said the gunfight broke out over distribution of stolen money.
