Police claimed the prime suspect of two Tripura girls’ murder case confessed that he killed the duo as one of them did not respond to his romantic approaches.
The key accused Abul Hossen was arrested from Sitakunda after a case has been filed over the two teenage girls’ body found in a house in Sitakunda’s Jangal Mahadevpur area on Friday night.
The victims are Sukloti Tripura, 15, and her neighbour Chobi Rani Tripura, 13.
Hossen had been proposing Sukloti for several times. On Friday morning, he approached her once again while she was at Chobi Rani’s house, according to Mohiuddin Mahmud Sohel, additional police super of the Special Branch.
After being rejected, Hossen, along with three of his associates, killed Sukloti through strangulation. They also killed another girl, Chobi Rani, as she saw the murder, said Sohel.
After killing them, Hossen hung the bodies with ropes on window grills, to make it look like suicide, said the official.
Later on that night, Chobi Rani’s father Suman Tripura filed a case with Sitakunda Police Station on Friday night in this connection.
However, they cannot publish the other accused name as the investigation is yet to finish, he said.
Police also produced the main suspect in the court on Saturday, the police official informed.
Meanwhile, victim Chobi Rani’s father Suman Tripura expressed his content that the accused had been arrested.
But he also expressed his suspicion that since the criminal was ‘influential’ in their locality, their safety might be compromised at any time.
