At least six people have died and two others were injured in a stone extraction site in Sylhet’s Kanaighat upazila on Tuesday.
The incident took place in Bangla Tila area in the morning.
Jakir, 16, son of Yunus Ali hailing from Bangla tila, Nahid, 13 and Shakil, 12, two sons of Almas Ali, Maruf, 13, son of Musabbir Ali, Abdul Kadir, 13, son of Ana Miya and Sudnar Ali, 35, son of Abdur Bari are the six deceased.
Five of the deceased were students of Daukergul Nesarul Quran Hafizia Madrasa and Sundar Ali was a local of the area.
Sylhet police Additional Superintendent Md Shamsul Alam Sarker confirmed the incident and said police forces are working in the spot.
Bangla Tila area is a remote area in Sylhet.
In the morning, a hole created for stone extraction collapsed and buried some workers.
However, only two people had died in the accident, said police.
