After waiting for a decade, Bangladesh Cricket team have finally got the opportunity to play a Test series against Australia and the two-match Test series between these two teams will be started from 27th August in Mirpur.
The mighty Aussies have already reached Dhaka on Friday night and they are scheduled to play a warm-up match from 22nd August to 23rd August. But the match is not confirmed yet as the uncertainty for the venue has not been solved yet.
The scheduled venue for the practice match was Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah but the stadium is waterlogged for past few months and the persistent rains in last few days has made the situation worse.
Meanwhile, a few days ago, a representative team of Australian Cricket Board visited ULAB Cricket ground and Fatullah stadium for this practice match.
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) wanted to shift the match to BKSP but Australia team didn’t want to go so far for the warm-up game. On the other hand, the ULAB Cricket ground is not a secured place.
As a result, BKSP is the only hope for BCB and they are trying hard to convince Australia’s team management to play there.
While talking to the media on Friday, BCB’s Chief Executive Officer, Nizamuddin Chowdhury said, We are trying hard and won’t take much time about it. Hopefully, we will make a decision on tomorrow (todya).”
BCB official will visit BKSP cricket ground today before making the final call. It has been learnt that the BKSP-3 ground is BCB’s first preference for the warm-up game.
