Only six relatives of jailed BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia were allowed to visit her on the occasion of Eid on Wednesday.
The six relatives are Khaleda’s sister Selina Islam, her husband professor Rofiqul Islam, sister-in-law Nasrin Iskandar, daughter-in-law Sharmila Rahman and granddaughter Jahiya Rahman and Tarique Rahman’s sister-in-law Sahina Zaman Bindu.
On the other hand, law enforcers barred BNP leaders from meeting her even though they expressed their wish to do so earlier.
The relatives entered the Old Dhaka Central Jail to meet Khaleda around 3:35 pm and came out around 4:40 pm.
Wearing a cotton saree, Khaleda came out of her cell to meet the relatives with the help of two jail guards and spent around an hour with them.
However, the jail authorities did not allow the visiting relatives of Khaleda Zai to take the food which her elder son Tarique’s mother-in-law Syeda Iqbalmand Banu prepared for her.
