Young filmmaker Iftekher Chowdhury has taken up the works of the first ever superhero film in Bangladesh.
The director widely known for his film ‘Agni’, has come up with ‘Bijli’ this time.
The protagonist of the film will be a female superhero played by actress Bobby. The film has been produced by Bobby’s own organization, Bobstar Films.
Official kickoff of ‘Bijli’ was on Saturday, 23rd April in a 5-star hotel in the capital, where all the casts and crew of the film were seen together.
“For the first time ever in Dhakai films, we are bringing in a superhero cinema. We have been seeing superheroes in Hollywood and Bollywood for a long time, but this will be the case for the first time in Bangladeshi cinemas,” maker of the film Iftekher told reporters.
He also emphasized on the point that the lady in the film is getting the superpowers instead of the male counterpart.
When asked why Bobby had invested in a cinema in a film when the market is in recession, she said she did it for the love of films.
“I love cinemas a lot. I don’t understand what risks are. I think, a lot of artists have a hidden ambition of producing films. But a few ones get the chance of doing so. The film Bijli has a very beautiful concept. Other than that, I didn’t want to slip away the opportunity to take part in everything starting from choosing my own hero to every other subsidiaries related to the film. I hope that we can gift something good to the viewers with the film ‘Bijli’.
Kolkata’s new actor, Ranveer has played the role opposite to Bobby in the film.
Reporters had quizzed about Ranveer’s decision to take part in a ‘woman centered’ film at the start of his career. However, he replied in a very optimistic manner.
“When I first heard the story of the film, it seemed a really good one. I didn’t think for once if acting in such a film would put any barriers in my career. The plot of the cinema is very beautiful. It’s mainly a story based cinema. To me, the story of a cinema is much more important than that of heroism. That’s why I agreed to play a role in this cinema without even a blink of the eye,” Ranveer told reporters.
Among others, Taliganj’s famous actress Satabdi Roy, Bangladesh’s Ahmed Rubel, Ilias Kanchan, Dilara Zaman, Shimul Khan and many more has been selected for roles in the cinema.
The script and dialogues of Iftekher Ahmed’s Bijli has been written by Kolkata’s renowned script writer Pele Bhattachariya. The dance sections of the cinema will be coordinated by Masum Babul.
If everything goes by plan, the shooting of the film will start in April 29th in India’s Darjeeling.
The casts and crew have already reached the hilly areas in order to start the shooting.
