The combination of Shakib Khan and Srabonti in ‘Shikari’ is proving even more potent that most box office experts had predicted as the romantic drama smashed multiple records in Bangladesh during the Eid vacation.
‘Shikari’ is a joint production film of neighboring countries Bangladesh and India, starring Bangladeshi superstar Shakib and Tollywood sweetheart Srabonti.
News agency United News of Bangladesh(UNB) has reported that the film set off to a flying start at the theaters.
Another joint venture ‘Badshah- The Don’, starring Jeet of India and Nusrat Faaria of Bangladesh, is also doing well. The film is produced by Abdul Aziz, his production Jaaz Multimedia funded approximately 50% of the film’s budget while Eskay Movies funded the rest.
However, Shikari’s successful run at the box office dented the collections for other Eid releases like Tisha-Shakib starrer ‘Mental’ and Shakib’s another film ‘Shomrat’, opposite Apu.
‘Shikari’, a film made on a budget of 4.05 crore taka, has bagged 1.5 crore taka just on the first two days.
Production company Jaaz Multimedia announced that the film was released in over 200 screens in Bangladesh, as the production company planned to revamp and bring over 100 outdated theaters under its server.
On the other hand, ‘Badshah – The Don’ earned 40 lakh taka, while the budget of this film was around 6 crore taka.
Two other Shakib-starrer films- ‘Mental’ and ‘Shomrat’ fetched Tk 1.87 crore and Tk 59 lakh respectively at the box office.
According to various reports and audience, ‘Shikari’ continued its fantastic run for the third and fourth consecutive day, as in on Saturday and Sunday. Most of the film theaters were houseful.
Pundits predict that the collection will fall comparatively as days go by, however by the end of this week, the film will have earned a handsome amount of money, and declare itself a hit.
It can be guessed that the outstanding run at the box office is continuing because of the occasion of Eid and the 9-day long Eid vacations. The ‘word of mouth’ factor is also accelerating the collection alongside the new ‘killer’ look of Bangladesh’s most successful actor Shakib Khan.
‘Shikari’ was released on 7 July in Bangladesh and will be released on 12 August in India. ‘Badshah – The Don’ was released in Kolkata on 6 July and on 7 July in Bangladesh.
