Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said BNP has no capacity to prevent the next general election.
“Even if BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia would be declared unfit for the election by the court, the party will be unable to resist the election,” he said reacting to the BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir’s warning of thwarting election on Thursday.
Quader, also minister for road transport and bridges, made this observation while answering questions from journalists after inaugurating a three-day Rajshahi Divisional Digital Innovation Fair- 2017 at Rajshahi College playground on Friday.
“If the court convicts Khaleda Zia, she will be unfit for the election,” said Quader.
He added that people will not disagree with the court verdict. If BNP disobey the verdict, people will resist the party.
“BNP is unable to stop the election as they couldn’t do on January 5, 2014 and can’t do the same in future,” he said.
The fair was organized by Divisional Commissioner’s Office, displaying latest ICT products, multi-media classroom, mobile banking and e-learning items through around 65 stalls.
The ceremony saw State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md Shahriar Alam and State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak addressing, and was chaired by Divisional Commissioner-in-Charge Munir Hossain.
