President M Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday greeted all the citizens of the country and the Muslims across the world on the eve of the holy month of Ramadan.
In separate messages, besides this they also prayed for the welfare of the country and the Muslim Ummah.
In his message, President Abdul Hamid said: “The holy month of Ramadan is the month of self-restraint, self-rectification and obtaining forgiveness.”
He also mentioned that this month brings a unique opportunity of getting closer to Allah and attaining peace and forgiveness.
“Fasting helps establish cooperation, amity and brotherhood between the rich and the poor,” said the president.
He also expressed hope that the people would realize the significance of the holy Ramadan and the society would get rid of all sorts of darkness and superstition.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, in a separate message, said Ramadan is the month for purification of souls through sacrifices and it creates the scopes for getting closer to Allah.
She urges the countrymen to get inspired with the teachings of this holy month and establish peace, amity and fraternity in personal and social lives, shunning luxury, malice, violence and conflicts.
