NEW DELHI: The religion of humanism is the common religion of all humans, President Pranab Mukherjee told a delegation of Bangladeshi youths which called on him at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Monday.
The President appreciated the initiative taken by the Indian high commission in Dhaka in organizing the visit by the 100-member delegation. President Mukherjee pointed out that half of the population in both India and Bangladesh belong to the younger generation, a statement from the president’s house said.
The Indian high commission in Dhaka, in co-ordination with the ministry of youth affairs & sports, organized the visit of the delegation to India. The delegation was taken on a tour of places of historical, educational, technical and industrial interest.
“The objective of the programme is to foster goodwill and understanding of each other’s countries, promote exchange of ideas, international understanding, values and culture among the youth of two countries,” the statement said.
The group from Bangladesh comprises youths from diverse backgrounds including students, young journalists, entrepreneurs, social workers and representatives of voluntary organizations, it said.
