President Md Abdul Hamid is going to take his oath for the second consecutive time as the 21st president of the country on April 24.
Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury will conduct the oath-taking ceremony on April 24 evening at the Bangabhaban’s Darbar Hall.
Earlier, the ceremony was scheduled to take place on April 15.
But the event has been pushed back to April 24 as prime minister Sheikh Hasina will go abroad this Sunday for an eight-day visit, said President’s Press Secretary Md Joynal Abedin on Saturday.
Hamid was elected as the president of the country on April 24, 2013 as the 17th person to receive the position. Among them he is the first to receive the position for two consecutive time.
Hamid’s five year tenure will expire on April 23. However, on February 7, he was re-elected as the president of the country once again.
