Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith said there will be no new faces in the polls-time government that might be announced on Friday.
“The election-time government may come tomorrow,” said the minister while talking to reporters after a cabinet committee meeting at the secretariat here on Thursday.
While responding to a query over whether the cabinet will be reformed Muhith said, “I think it’ll happen but there will be no new faces in the election-time cabinet.”
He further explained his previous comment saying, “It’s a coalition government. There is nobody who can be picked up. So I don’t think there will be any new addition.”
Asked about the exit of four technocrat ministers, the minister said, “They will stay on until their resignations are accepted.”
He, however, said that there is possibility of finalization of their resignation process on Thursday night or Friday. “Their resignation letters will probably be accepted tomorrow, or perhaps tonight.”
While talking about his decision over contesting the upcoming general election, Muhith said, “I will not contest the election. That’s my decision. I’ll submit the nomination paper. It’s a kind of dummy nomination. It’s a routine affair.”
