Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) on Thursday said the parliament has lost 152 hours and 17 minutes working hours worth Tk 125 crore during the sessions.
According to the anti-graft watchdog, there is an average of 30 minutes loss every working day.
The statistics have been disclosed at a press briefing held at TIB’s Dhanmondi office.
In his speech, TIB’s executive director Dr Iftekharuzzaman said the parliament has spent around 35 minutes on an average in order to pass each bill whereas in India the average time for the same is two hours 23 minutes.
The TIB boss said that the parliament has failed to ensure good governance, rule of law, and establish accountability.
However, he also mentioned the need of a strong opposition saying that the present position in parliament failed to perform its role in the parliament as it is still suffering from identity crisis as before.
