Terming the upcoming national election a ‘battle’ Jatiya Oikyafront leader Mahmudur Rahman Manna said they would not leave it under any circumstance.
“We are considering the 11th parliamentary election as a battle. We will remain in the election battle until its end,” he said at a press conference at Jatiya Press Club on Tuesday afternoon.
He said that there is a grave concern in people’s mind whether the election will be held in a credible manner.
Manna, also the convener of Nagorik Oikya, said the doubt over the election is getting deeper due to the government and the Election Commission’s behaviour.
He said the situation of the country is becoming dreadful after the announcement of the polls schedule as the ruling party is planning to cling onto power through implementing its ‘blueprint.’
The Oikyafront leader also alleged that ruling Awami League is enjoying various opportunities and that is why ensuring of a level playing field in the election is far away.
On the other hand, repression and oppression are going on against the opposition party men across the country, he added.
