Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid placed the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) Bill, 2018 in Parliament on Monday.
The bill was sent to the respective Parliamentary Standing Committee for further scrutinizing as the Committee gets two days to submit its report.
Designed in Bangla, the bill brings a few changes to the National Curriculum and Textbook Board Ordinance 1983.
Of the major changes, the number of the board members has been increased from five to nine.
The eight separate businesses were defined for eight board members in the proposed law.
Besides, the authorities concerned will publish textbooks for small ethnic minority groups in their respective mother tongues as the matter is not there in the existing law.
The government will come up with digital and interactive books as this matter is also included in the proposed law.
As per the proposed law, the NCTB will place its annual report before the government by March 31 every year.
