Ruling Awami League has announced a list of nominated leaders to run for 240 constituencies in the upcoming 11th National Election.
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader unveiled the list of Awami League nominees while handing over the nomination papers to the candidates at AL President Sheikh Hasina’s Dhanmondi office on Friday.
Obaidul Quader said that Awami League has left 60 constituencies for its 14-part alliance partners.
Quader, also Minister for Road Transport and Bridges, revealed that nearly 40 of the 60 seats have been given to HM Ershad-led Jatiya Party (JP).
On the other hand, a total of five constituencies were finalised for Workers’ Party, three for Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh (BDB) and three for Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD-Inu), two for Jatiya Party (Manju), two for Bangladesh Tariqat Federation and one for Ambia-led JSD.
Asked about the electoral symbol of the alliance partners, Quader said, “If any alliance partner wants to contest the polls with its own electoral symbol in any constituency, it will be allowed to do so.”
The 11th National Election will be held on December 30, 2018.
