A man, who remained missing since January 4, was found dead in a septic tank at West Madhugram in Chagalnaiya upazila on Thursday, reports news agency UNB.
The deceased has been identified as Abul Kalam, 55, a retired army man.
Abul Kalam went missing on January 4 after his first wife along with their five children went to his in-law’s house, said MM Murshed, officer-in-charge of Chagalnaiya Police Station.
On Thursday, Rekha along with her children returned home and found the doors of the house opened. Sensing something wrong, she called Kalam over mobile phone but found it switched off.
Later, Parveen Akter, sister-in-law of Kalam, found the lids of the septic tank open where she unearthed the body of Kalam.
On information, police recovered the body and sent it to local hospital morgue.
Police also detained Rekha and two others for interrogation.
Quoting neighbours, police said Kalam and Rekha used to fight over second marriage of Kalam and on January 4 the couple locked into an altercation over the issue.
