Home Minister Asduzzaman Khan on Saturday said that a medical board will be formed to check up on BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia.
The minister came up with the disclosure after a BNP delegation had held a meeting with him over the health issue of the former prime minister.
Claiming that Khaleda’s health condition is regularly checked in prison the home boss told reporters that the government will form a medical board soon ‘to end the plea of BNP’.
The minister, however, did not mention the date of forming the medical board.
Earlier in the day, a 10-member delegation of BNP led by its Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir met Asaduzzaman at his office and discussed Khaleda’s illness.
The BNP delegation urged the minister to move Khaleda Zia to United Hospital immediately.
After the meeting, Fakhrul told reporters that they requested the minister to take their chief to a specialized hospital.
“She (Khaleda) wants to be treated at the United Hospital; and we requested as such,” said Fakhrul.
The home minister assured the BNP leaders of taking steps to this end after talking to secretary of the respective ministry, prison authority and other officials, according to BNP sources.
