Bangladesh Meteorological Department advised the Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra maritime ports to keep hoisted distant cautionary signal number 2 due to deep depression over West-central Bay and adjoining East-central Bay.
A Met Office bulletin on Tuesday morning said that the deep depression over West-Central bay and adjoining East-central bay moved West-Northwestwards further over the same area (lat. L5.0on, long. 87.2″8) and was centered at 6 am on Tuesday about 950 km southwest of Chattogram port, 890 km Southwest of Cox’s Bazar port, 870 km South-Southwest of Mongla port and 850 km south-southwest of Payra port.
The depression is likely to intensify further and move in a North/Northwesterly direction, added the Met office bulletin.
According to the bulletin, maximum sustained wind speed within 48 km of the deep depression centre is about 50 kph rising to 60 kph in gusts/squalls.
All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice.
