Arturo Vidal will have to undergo a minor operation on a knee injury, Bayern Munich coach Jupp Heynckes has confessed.
Alarm bells were ringing around the Bavarian club when he went down in training under no contact after the win over Borussia Monchengladbach.
“Arturo tripped without any contact from anyone and now has a loose body in his knee joint,” Heynckes told the media ahead of his side’s DFB Pokal clash against Bayer Leverkusen.
“He now needs a small procedure and will be out of action for the time being.
“What we know though is that Arturo is a fighter and I’m confident about his recovery.”
Vidal was immediately escorted from the training field by Franck Ribery and the club’s goalkeeping coach after his unfortunate trip.
On April 25, Bayern host Real Madrid at the Allianz Arena in the Champions League semi-final before the return leg the following week and it now looks likely that the former Juventus man could miss both games.
