Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) alleged that its chairperson Khaleda Zia was not given any treatment in spite of her serious illness in jail.
“Our chairperson who is also a three-time Prime Minister of the country, is critically ill in jail but she’s not getting any treatment,” said BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rzvi while speaking at a press briefing at the party’s central office at city’s Nayapaltan on Sunday.
The BNP leader demanded immediate release of Khaleda Zia from jail so that she can receive treatment for her ailment as per her wish.
As she’s been kept in jail in an unhealthy atmosphere, many problems developed in her body, alleged Rizvi adding that the party chairperson has long been suffering from Arthritis and eye problems.
Rizvi said Khaleda Zia needs to undergo some important tests like Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) to identify her diseases.
Referrting to the tests suggested by medical board which was formed by the jail authority, Rizvi said: “It’s not possible to identify her specific physical problems only by x-ray and blood tests,” said the party spokesperson.
He said it’s not fair that the authority does not allow BNP chief’s personal physicians to provide any proper treatment.
The government’s intention is to eliminate Khaleda gradually, said Rizvi adding that:”That’s why they sent her jail and now she’s not given proper treatment.”
