Awami League Secretary General and Road, Bridge and Transport Minister Obaidul Quader said the Khulna City Corporation election was held in a free and fair manner.
The ruling party expressed satisfaction after the unofficial declaration of its mayoral candidate Talukder Abdul Khaleque’s victory in the KCC polls.
“The election was held in a free and fair manner and the voters cast their votes in favour of our party candidate,” he said at a press briefing at the party president’s Dhanmondi office in Dhaka on Tuesday.
However, the AL leader denied BNP’s allegations of impartiality and irregularities in the election claiming that “No election observer or media brought out such a complaint.”
Obaidul Quader also urged the BNP leaders to take lessons from the election result.
Among others, the party’s presidium members Matia Chowdhury and Mohammad Abdur Razzaque, advisory council member HT Imam, and central leaders Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Abdur Rahman, Ahmad Hosain, Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, Rashedul Alam and Biplab Barua were present at the briefing.
