Jatiya Party will take part in the upcoming national election independently if BNP boycott it, said the party Chairman HM Ershad.
“We will participate in the election in alliance with Awami League if BNP joins it. However, we will take part in it independently if the party boycotts it,” said the JP boss while talking to reporters at Kurigram circuit house on Sunday.
Responding to a query, the former military ruler said the polls-time government would be formed as per the constitution where there will be seven or eight ministers from his party.
Alleging that BNP had tortured him, Ershad said, “I was in jail for six years. They had also jailed my wife, son and daughter without committing any crime.”
Among others, MP from Kurigram -1 constituency AKM Mostafizur Rahman and MP from Kurigram-3 constituency Akkas Ali Sarker were present in the program.
