‘Miss World Bangladesh 2017’ Jessia Islam is going to China on October 19 to participate in the ‘Miss World’ competition.
This year’s edition of Miss World takes place on November 18, at the Crown of Beauty Theatre in Sanya, China and Bangladeshi beauty queen Jessia will be gracing the prestigious stage of this paegent.
As gifts for the organizers and guests of ‘Miss World’ competition, Jessia will take products made of jute with her. These products include shoes, salwar-kamiz, bags, jamdanis of jute and portraits of Father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman printed on jute.
On this occasion, a press conference was held in the city’s Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel on Tuesday afternoon. Jute and Textiles Minister Mirza Azam attended the event, along with chairman Swapon Chowdhury and Managing Director Nasrin Chowdhury of organizing group Antor Showbiz. CEO of Omicon Entertainment, joint organizer, Ashfaq Uddin Siddique, Head of Marketing of Sajeeb Group Mohammad Alauddin and ‘Miss World Bangladesh’ Jessia Islam as well as seven other contestants were also present there.
Miss World 2017 will be the 67th edition of the pageant, with over 120 participating countries. The contestants this year will arrive first in Singapore and then head to China.
It is the ninth time in the pageant’s history that it’s being held in China.
Reigning Miss World Stephanie Del Valle from Puerto Rico will pass her crown to her successor at the end of the pageant.
The opening ceremony will feature 500 costumed performers and a “Parade of Spectacular Floats”, as 100,00 people welcome the world to the pageant.
