The new iPhone 5 broke sales records when it was made available for preorder on Friday. Customers placed more than 2 million orders for the phone on its first day, breaking all records of previous sales. The iPhone 4S received 1 million pre orders on its first day last year, while the iPhone 4 had only 600,000 on its first day. Sales were so brisk for the new phone that Apple had to start delaying deliveries over an hour after it began accepting preorders. Apple is expected to sell 6 to 8 million phones when the phone is released this weekend.
