Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has stated that the verdict of August 21 grenade attack case, in which many BNP leaders have been convicted, is yet another proof of the party’s militant activities.
Quader, also Minister for Road Transport and Bridges for the Government of Bangladesh, made the comment while speaking to reporters in Nowdoba area in Jajira, Shariatpur on Friday.
The Minister is in Shariatpur to observe the security and overall preparations ahead of Prime Minister’s visit to inaugurate the 60 per cent development in construction work of the Padma Bridge project on Sunday.
Talking to reporters, Quader said, “Courts in Canada and Bangladesh have proved that BNP is a terrorist organisation. BNP’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman was the main plotter of August 21 grenade attack and he should have been sentenced to death.”
“BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia too cannot avoid responsibility of the attack, she should also be brought to justice,” said Quader.
Reiterating his claim of BNP being a terrorist organization, Quader concluded saying BNP’s moral base and image as a political party has hit the bottom.
