BNP has alleged that the government is implicating the party’s leaders and activists with ‘false and baseless’ cases as part of its (government’s) attempt to eliminate the party from the country.
“The ruling party has become crazy to eliminate BNP for prolonging its one-party rule by sending its leaders to jail after implicating them with false, fabricated and baseless cases,” said BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir in a press release issued on Thursday.
The release has been issued protesting the arrest of Jatiyatabadi Sechhasebak Dal senior joint general secretary Saiful Islam Firoz.
Firoz was also a candidate of BNP for Jhenidah-4 constituency in the December 30 general election.
The court on Wednesday sent him jail in connection with a ‘false and politically motivated case’ instead of granting bail, Fakhrul said in the release.
Fakhrul condemned the court’s decision and demanded immediate release of all arrested BNP men including Firoz.
The BNP leader also said the government has become isolated as it has no relation with the mass people.
