Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said ongoing labour unrest in the readymade garments sector can make us lose important orders to other countries. Workers too would lose their jobs if the factories shut down.
The Prime Minister said this on Thursday while addressing an export awards ceremony at Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital.
To the workers she said, “Don’t get misled at someone’s provocation. Get back to work.” She also said she is acting as the bargaining agent on behalf of garments workers in an effort to increase their minimum wage.
The PM said the government has created trade friendly environment in the country. It has never interfered in trade and commerce. A one thousand crore taka export development fund has been set up to assist exporters.
