The Sampadak Parishad (Editors’ Council) will hold a press conference at noon tomorrow to protest against the Digital Security Act as the newly introduced bill is going to be a bar before freedom of speech and independent journalism.
The platform came up with the decision at a meeting with Daily Ittefaq editor Tasmima Hossain in the chair.
The council, however, admitted that there should be law to control the misuse of information.
The editors opposed sections 8, 21, 25, 28, 29, 31, 32, 43 and 53 of the act.
The council also issued a statement where it expresses deep disappointment that the specific promise made by three cabinet ministers and information adviser to prime minister about taking Sampadak Parishad’s concerns to the cabinet.
