Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today thanked Brazil for reopening its resident mission in Dhaka saying Bangladesh is determined to renew its relationship with the Latin American country.
The Prime Minister said this when newly appointed Brazilian ambassador to Bangladesh Wanja Campos da Nobrega called on her at her Tejgaon office here today.
It’s the first courtesy call-on of Ms Wanja Compos da Nobrega, a career diplomat of Brazil, arrived Dhaka with the diplomatic job after reopening of the resident missions of the two counties in each other’s capital.
Welcoming the new envoy to Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina wished her happy stay and successful career in Bangladesh. She also assured Ms Wanja of extending all possible cooperation during her tenure in Bangladesh.
Mentioning that Brazil is a ‘household name’ in Bangladesh for football, the Prime Minister said, the new envoy would experience this craze soon during the coming world cup in Brazil.
She expressed her firm optimism that the trade relation between the two countries would get a boost in the coming days and major exportable items from Bangladesh, like jute, RMG and pharmaceuticals, will find more market opportunities in Brazil along with getting duty free access.
Pointing out the Brazil’s enhanced role in many multilateral forum, the Prime Minister sought the country’s support to Bangladesh’s candidature at the Human Rights Council in 2015 and Non-permanent seat of the UN Security Council for 2016-17 term.
