The High Court fixed Monday for passing its order of a bail petition filed by BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in a case filed under the Special Powers Act over the arson attack in Comilla on Feb 3, 2015.
The HC bench of Justice AKM Asaduzzaman and Justice SM Mozibur Rahman on Sunday fixed the date after completion of hearing on the bail petition.
Khandaker Mahbub Hossain stood for Khaleda while Attorney General Mahbubey Alam represented the state.
Earlier on July 17, Khaleda Zia filed a petition before the court seeking bail in the case.
On June 26, the apex court upheld an HC order that granted bail to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in the case.
On May 28, the HC granted bail for six months to BNP chief Khaleda Zia in two cases filed in Cumilla.
Later, the government filed a petition with the Appellate Division seeking a stay on the bail order.
Eight people were killed and 20 others injured when miscreants hurled a petrol bomb at a bus at Jogmohanpur in Chouddagram of Comilla district during the BNP-led alliance’s movement on February 3, 2015.
Two separate cases were filed against Khaleda in this connection.
