Officials under the banners of Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) have started drives against unfit vehicles plying in Dhaka from Monday morning.
Two mobile courts of BRTA were deployed in the Manik Miya Avenue to check the fitness certificates of the vehicles.
Spokesperson of BRTA, Mahbubey Rabbani told reporters that the drive started from 9am.
BRTA officials have fined many unfit vehicles from the morning.
Road, Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader paid a visit at the spot. He personally checked the fitness of some CNG-driven vehicles.
The minister also ordered to take steps against two state-owned BRTC buses and a Baishakh Paribahan bus over fitness and allegations of extra fares.
