BNP has expressed concern over the medical condition of party chief Khaleda Zia and urged for her to be taken to United Hospital.
Four members of Khaleda’s personal medical team went to the prison on Saturday. After the visit they said that the BNP chief had suffered a ‘mild stroke’ and recommended that she be moved to United Hospital.
However, Law Minister Anisul Huq said on Sunday that she would be taken to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University for tests.
BNP Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has warned the government that it will be responsible if Khaleda’s health worsens.
“If the decision to bar her move to a specialised hospital results in her health worsening, the government will have to take responsibility,” Rizvi added.
The government and prison authorities do not care about her health, he said.
