Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) is seeking a schedule to meet Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal to discuss the health issue of their jailed party chief Khaleda Zia.
Sayrul Kabir Khan, a staff of Khaleda Zia’s media wing, has confirmed that Khaleda Zia’s personal secretary ABM Sattar sent a letter to the home ministry on September 6.
Speaking to reporters on Friday, Sayrul Kabir Khan said, “A 10-member delegation led by the party’s Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir wants to meet the home minister on the day.”
The BNP chief has been staying at the old Dhaka central jail in the capital’s Nazimuddin Road after she was sentenced to five years’ imprisonment in the Zia Orphanage Trust corruption case on February 8 this year.
Earlier, BNP leaders had alleged that there is a plot going on to kill Khaleda inside the jail after her family members raised concerns over her health following their visit to the jail.
