BNP will organise protest programs across the country including Dhaka to protest the recent attacks on its party chief Khaleda Zia’s motorcade.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said protest rallies will be organised at all district-level headquarters tomorrow.
He made the remarks while addressing journalists at a press conference at Nayapaltan in Dhaka this noon.
All-thana level units of the party at Dhaka will also have similar protest programs in Dhaka on Saturday, Fakhrul said at a press conference.
A minimum of 45 people were injured and some 30 cars, including several vehicles of media, were damaged as 40 to 50 youths with iron rods and sticks swooped on the convoy in Feni on Saturday.
BNP claimed the attack was planned to stop Khaleda from providing humanitarian assistance to Rohingya refugees in Cox’s Bazar.
Around 15 journalists were assaulted even after disclosing their professional identities.
Two empty buses were aflamed at Mohipal in the same district town just after the BNP chief’s car crossed the area as her motorcade was returning to Dhaka.
The BNP and Awami League have been pointing fingers at each other. However, Feni BNP leaders made some claim that they have been successful to identify some of the men who attacked Khaleda’s motorcade that day.
