Biman Bangladesh Airlines will buy three Dash 8 Q400 aircraft from Canada’s Bombardier to transport passenger on short routes.
In this regard, Biman has signed a deal with Canadian Commercial Corporation in Dhaka on Wednesday.
The flag carrier will get the three planes between March and June, 2020, according to the deal.
Biman Managing Director AM Mosaddique Ahmed and Canadian Commercial Corporation Acting President Carl Marcotte signed the deal to buy the turboprop airliners with turboprop engine under a government-to-government arrangement.
The price of the 74-seaters has not been disclosed. Biman mentioned $22.422 million as the price for each Dash 8 in the purchase proposal sent to the cabinet last year.
Civil Aviation Secretary-in-Charge Mohibul Haque and Biman Chairman Air Marshal Muhammad Enamul Bari were present at the signing ceremony.
