Bangladesh counted 160.59 million mobile phone subscribers in April, up from 159.78 million at end-March, according to data from the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC). Grameenphone led the a market with 74.47 million mobile customers in April, up from 74.05 million in march, followed by Robi Axiata with 47.57 million, up from 47.34 million the previous month.
The BRTC figures also show that there were 93.70 million internet subscribers in April, up from 93.10 million in March. The fixed-line internet user base was little changed at 5.732 million compared to 5.731 in March, and the WiMax subscriber base declined to 60,000 in April from 61,000 users in March. Internet subscribers are defined as people who have used the internet at least once in the past 90 days.
