BNP organizing secretary for Chittagong division Mahbubur Rahman Shamim and city unit general secretary Abul Hashem Bakkar has been put on a one-day remand in a case filed for attacking police.
Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Mohiuddin Murad passed the order on Tuesday when police produced the duo before the court with a seven-day remand prayer.
The court also rejected the bail petitions of the BNP leaders when their lawyers filed those.
Earlier on Monday, police arrested Shamim and Bakkar from the city’s GEC intersection in the case filed on charge of attacking police on the court premises on Sunday.
On Sunday, a group of BNP leaders and activists attacked on the law enforcers on the court premises after a court cancelled the bail of party leader Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury.
Later, a case was filed with Kotwali Police Station against some 150 leaders and activists of BNP, including Shamim and Bakkar, in this connection.
