Election Commission Secretary Helal Uddin Ahmed on Friday said the commission will allocate the symbols on November 30 and the candidates can officially begin their campaigns from December 1.
The EC secretary came up with the announcement while talking to reporters at the Nirbachan Bhaban in Dhaka this morning.
He also urged all concerned to maintain the electoral code of conducts.
All political parties are asked to remove their posters, banners and all kinds of objects for electoral campaigns with own initiative within the next seven days, said Secretary Ahmed.
He also warned of taking steps against those who will deny abiding by the electoral code of conduct.
The commission also asked the political parties to inform within the next three days if they want to join through coalition, said the EC secretary.
On Thursday evening, Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda announced that the 11th general election will be held on December 23.
According to the schedule, the candidates will have to submit their nomination papers within November 19. The last date of scrutinizing the nomination papers is November 22 while the last date for withdrawing candidacy is November 29.
In his speech to the nation, the CEC expressed his hope that all political parties will join the election.
