Rajshahi University (RU) authorities have taken punitive measures against two teachers for their ‘communal’ questions in the entry test under faculty of Fine Arts.
The decision was taken at 474th syndicate meeting of the university on Wednesday night, said the university authorities.
As per the meeting, Faculty of Fine Arts Dean Mustafizur Rahman and member of the question paper making committee Zillur Rahman have been suspended for next 10 years from examination related activities.
Syndicate sources said Mostafizur Rahman has also been removed from the post of faculty dean and Zillur Rahman’s promotion as associate professor will be effective after five years.
On October 25, there was a question of the second set in ‘I’ unit entry test under faculty of Fine Arts of the university.
One of the questions had asked what was the greatest book in the world, with four multiple choice questions including Quran, Bible, Injil and the Geeta.
Another question was – “On which date the Myanmar Army and armed Buddhists attacked Rohingya Muslims?”
Following mass outcry over the two questions, the university authorities of the university formed a four-member probe committee to investigate the matter.
