Members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested three foreign fraudsters from capital Dhaka on Friday.
The deceased have been identified as Kuate Fotso Theodore Ledoex, Amelie Mawabo and Mbdia Ekani Hermann Martin; all hailing from Cameroon.
Commander Mufti Mahmud Khan, legal and media wing director of the RAB, confirmed the arrests at a press briefing on Friday afternoon.
Drugs and euros worth about Tk 62 lakh from their possession were also recovered from their possession, he added.
Mahmud Khan said that the arrests were made following a complaint against the trio filed by a private bank manager.
In the case, he mentioned that he received a phone call from one who said he was interested in investing in Bangladesh.
Later Fotso Theodore contacted the bank manager saying that he was the representative of the alleged investor.
First, the fraud gang took USD 4,000 from him in the name of investment.
On October 31, the manager filed the case when the fraudsters took about 2.5 million euros more from him.
