The people of Khaliajuri, Netrokona saw an unprecedented scene on Thursday as the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina took a tour in the village on a rickshaw.
The PM arrived in the morning to monitor the situation of the flood-affected haor areas of the district.
“As a person from ‘baor’ area I can understand well enough about your hardship and sufferings,” the premier said towards the affected while addressing a public meeting at Khaliajuri Degree College ground.
“We have taken all necessary measures to compensate you,” she assured the flood affected people.
The Prime Minister said the Relief Ministry is selling rice at Tk 10 per kg for 50 lakh low income people.
Pointing out the potentials of the haor areas, the Prime Minister said the government has undertaken plans to improve the living condition of the haor people.
“I have instructed the district administration to make a list of landless people of Netrakona. We will rehabilitate each and every homeless person,” she added.
“It was the dream of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman that no people of Bangladesh will remain homeless. We will make sure his dream becomes true,” the premier assured people.
