PayPal, the popular international gateway of online payment, is all set to launch its services in Bangladesh.
State minister for ICT division Zunaid Ahmed Palak confirmed this to the media on Monday. He said the service will initiate in the country from October 19 and it will be inaugurated by the Prime Minister’s ICT adviser Sajeeb Ahmed Wazed Joy during the Bangladesh ICT Expo 2017.
According to the state minister, PayPal services will be available in nine banks, including Sonali Bank and Rupali Bank.
PayPal Holdings, Inc is an American company operating a worldwide online payments system that supports online money transfers and serves as an electronic alternative to traditional paper methods like checks and money orders.
PayPal’s arrival will benefit freelancers the most, paving the way for hassle-free electronic transfer of money and ease the influx of remittances and earnings from foreign companies.
Since its start in December 1998, PayPal has enabled nearly 200 million individuals and businesses to transfer funds electronically.
