Administration of Dhaka University on Saturday admits that its affiliation programme with seven colleges was implemented without having prior preparation and planning for it.
A statement has been issued in this regard from university’s public relations department on Saturday while a number of Dhaka University students are protesting for an end to the affiliations.
Earlier on February 16, 2017, seven college were made affiliated with Dhaka University. These colleges are- Dhaka College, Eden Women’s College, Begum Badrunnessa Government Women’s College, Government Shaheed, Suhrawardy College, Kabi Nazrul College, Mirpur Government Bangla College and Government Titumir College.
The statement depicted seven steps that could be taken to resolve the issues regarding the affiliate colleges.
“Complications arose after the seven Dhaka government colleges were made affiliates of the university without prior preparations or planning,” the statement read.
Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique was the vice chancellor last year when the decision to grant Dhaka University’s supervision over the colleges was taken.
Student of several colleges were protesting for the affiliation and three rounds of protest were held on July, last year. One of the protesters was held while case was filed against 200 others.
The second round of protests was held last October as many of the fourth year students called for protest asking DU to publish their exam results.
Two months later another round of protest with several demands took place as well.
