Awami League Presidium Member and Health Minister Mohammed Nasim has expressed hopes that BNP along with its allies will take part in the next national elections that will be held as per the constitution.
“We want fair election as per provision of the constitution,” the ruling Awami League minister said on Sunday in an interview with Voice of America (VoA) in Washington, according to a press release of Bangladesh Embassy in the United States.
Nasim said the concept of non-party caretaker government was introduced experimentally, but the system did not succeed.
“So, we can’t continue with this experiment. The nation is tired, the people are tired and we are tired of this system,” Nasim told Voice of America.
The Awami League leader said the Election Commission will conduct the election and the administration will be placed under the commission for three months, which will have the authority to change OCs and DCs if it deems necessary for fair election.
The current government will act as an interim government during the election and will only perform routine work as per the constitution. Nasim added.
