The High Court on Tuesday rejected a petition filed by Awami League MP Amanur Rahman Khan Rana seeking cancellation of a lower court order that issued charges against Rana and 13 others in the murder case of freedom fighter Faruk Ahmed.
A two-member HC bench of Shawkat Hossain and Justice Nazrul Islam passed the order.
The bench mentioned that the petition was ‘not presented’ at the court.
On September 9, the Tangail Court framed charges against Rana and 13 others in the murder case of Faruk Ahmed.
On January 18, 2013, Faruk Ahmed was shot dead in the district town of Tangail
Later on February 2016, detectives pressed charges against 14 people, including the ruling party lawmaker and his three brothers in the case.
