Professor Dr Zafar Iqbal on his release from hospital has said he harbors no anger for his attackers.
“Those who have gotten involved with terrorism, I hope they find their way. I am not angry at or have complaints against anyone,” the Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) Professor said.
He was talking to reporters at the Dhaka airport before boarding a private airlines flight for Sylhet around 10:30am on Wednesday. He was released from Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka in the morning.
From the hospital, Prof Iqbal directly went to Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport to fly to Sylhet.
Professor Iqbal and his wife Yesmeen Huq, also a professor at the university, reached Sylhet around 1:08pm.
Professor Iqbal is expected to address students at Sust where he came under knife attack on March 3.
He will address his students and others around 4:00pm from the spot exactly where he was attacked.
“I am doing well. The doctor has asked me to come on March 18 for a follow-up,” he further said.
The academic and eminent writer was undergoing treatment at the Critical Care Unit of CMH in Dhaka since March 3, when he was attacked at a program organized by the Shahjalal University’s Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering in Sylhet.
After receiving initial treatment in Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College, Zafar was flown to CMH in a private helicopter, where he underwent various tests and treatment from specialists before being released today.
